World renowned Omaha, NE area flutist.

Described by Flute Focus as “…having shattered any notions that the piccolo might be lacking in deep, expressive powers," Christine Erlander Beard enjoys an active career as a soloist, chamber artist and teacher.

An internationally recognized piccolo specialist, she has served as a guest artist at flute festivals throughout North America, South America and Europe, including twelve conventions of the National Flute Association, three British Flute Society conventions, the Spanish Flute Convention, the Canadian Flute Convention, the Costa Rica International Flute Festival, the World Flutes Festival in Argentina, the European Piccolo Festival in Slovenia, and the International Flute Festival in Peru.

Applauded for her interesting and diverse recital programming, Christie strives to showcase lyrical music written for the piccolo, as well as promoting new and original works for the instrument with a focus on American composers.

Founder and Artistic Director of the International Piccolo Symposium, Dr. Beard is Professor of Flute at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, creator/webmaster of the acclaimed PiccoloHQ.com, and she serves as a contributing editor to the NFA's journal, The Flutist Quarterly.
