If It Were Up To The BCS, PART III:

Sorry, folks. Got a little behind. But that still doesn’t change the importance of the message…

If it were up the the BCS, the Washington Capitals and the San Jose Sharks would have played each other in the 2009-2010 NHL Finals…

The Capitals were eliminated in the opening playoff round by the Montreal Canadiens, the eighth seed. The Sharks were eliminated in the conference finals by the Chicago Blackhawks, the 2-seed and eventual Stanley Cup champions.

If It Were Up To The BCS:

I think I have made it painfully clear to anybody who has read my online column that I hate the Bowl Championship Series with every fabric of my being, with the white hot intensity of a supernova.

However, just to illustrate that my vitriol for the BCS does not find foundation with how they fucked my alma mater Cal out of its rightful place in the Rose Bowl in 2004, throughout the calendar year I will periodically publish a column called If It Were Up To The BCS:. This will give a current update of what would – or more appropriately, what would not – have happened if the BCS were in charge of a specific sport or league.

We are only eleven days into the New Year and already we have an example:

If it were up to the BCS, the New York Giants and the Tennessee Titans would be playing in the Super Bowl to decide the NFL champion –

…Both teams were eliminated in the divisional playoffs. Both one-and-done!
