As someone who went to Cal I am certainly biased, and I wear that with pride — so here goes: Brett Favre is clearly the better QB, his massive self-absorbsion notwithstanding. But I can’t help but feel for the way Aaron Rodgers has been treated through all of this.
Today the Packers became less of an organization, and Rodgers does not deserve this. I’ve never seen any QB get jerked around so much in my life — not only by Favre’s self-impressed indecisiveness over three years and by the way the Packers organization has genuflected at the alter that is Brett Favre at the expense of their 2005 first-round pick, but also by the fact that the organization has shown virtually no belief in Rodgers by drafting two QBs in April, one in the second round — yet through it all he has handled himself with class and poise, two words which will never be associated with Brett Favre. I know, it isn’t about class or poise or Aaron Rodgers; it’s about what’s best for the Packers.
Rodgers has sublimated his needs for the organization all along, and now enough is enough.
Even if by some divine intervention you somehow win the starting job (which clearly isn’t going to happen), Aaron, finish out the season and demand out of Wisconsin as soon as possible. You deserve a helluva lot better than them, and they don’t deserve you.
