With just 25 days to go before the start of the F1 season, there is genuine doubt that the opening Bahrain GP will take place as protests step up in the small Arab kingdom. After the overthrow of Hosni Mubarak in Egypt, similar protests have taken place in Iran, Algeria and elsewhere but ironically it could be the cancellation of a race that draws the most attention around the world. Not that that’s a bad thing, but it is kind of sad to think that the only way people outside the Middle East will get upset about human rights violations and repression in Bahrain is if you take away their sporting event.
