I just watched the exceptionally moving, ESPN 30 for 30 documentary on the 1989 Hillsborough disaster. I learned a lot about that day that I didn’t know before and shed more than a few tears.
Every soccer fan, English or otherwise, should watch this. You will have a new appreciation for the power of determination – for justice, for the power of the common man.
You will also have a new understanding of Liverpool – both the city and the resilience of its people, but also of the Football Club and the depth of support of its fans.
If Sacramento Republic wants a pointer as to how a “real” football club is supported, witness the 30,000+ people chanting “Justice for the 96″…at a memorial service, not a game.
